Ever Had One of Those Weeks

where you just can't seem to accomplish anything? My lack of motivation hasn't lifted, and I almost made a huge effort today to try and catch up on all the things I didn't do all week...

...but then, I didn't.

Here's a look at my to-do list progress since Monday:

  • More string blocks (one block a day): I finished... one block. Now I have four. Still twelve more to go.

  • February's paper-pieced BOM: I actually finished this one! The Wild Goose Chase block from Quilter's Cache.

  • Flannel critter quilt: Well... here's the pattern. I haven't opened it yet.

  • Go through email: Yes! I did get that done. Hopefully I can keep it under control.

  • Bathtub caulking removal: So tedious! I'm trying to get the whole tub edge from this point:

    to this point:

I'm about halfway around now, but I can only work on it for 20-30 minutes before I just have to get out of there. Needless to say, it's slow going. And I also have the caulking at the floor level yet to do. And then to follow up on several different suggestions for getting the remaining residue off the whole thing... bleh. I can't wait to have that bathroom done and ready to paint!

So my plan for the weekend is to finish that caulking job. And then, I have a pretty good idea what I need to do next week to pull myself out of this slump. It has to do with my very disorganized sewing room(s)...

Can you guess what it might be?

Pushing Through...

I'm feeling incredibly unmotivated today, but I did manage to scratch out a to-do list for the week. Maybe getting it down here will give me that little push I need to get GOING.

  • More string blocks Setting a block-a-day goal for these this week. Hopefully we'll see some progress.

  • February's paper-pieced BOM Considering we're well into March now, I'd really like to have this done.

  • Flannel critter quilt A new Simplicity pattern I bought this weekend. I thought it might be a good seller in the shop. We'll see...

  • Go through email I owe an apology to all of you lovely people who have left blog comments. My email inbox is a MESS. I sincerely appreciate all of your comments, and am usually much better about replying in a timely manner. It's definitely time to get this under control.

  • Bathtub caulking removal Hubby did indeed get that bathtub leveled, and has almost taken care of all of the leaking/dripping issues. I need to get in there now with a scraper, razor blade or something and get the last bits of old caulking scraped off so we can move on with that fun little project.

My enthusiasm is underwhelming, but there it is. Ready, set, go...

Another Week Has Flown...

...and it's Friday again. Didn't quite finish my to-do list this week, but I did come close:

  • Finish the lavender and white ragtime quilt. Not done, but started. I wasn't completely happy with the purple I ordered for this one, so I ordered another, which just came today. Still not sure which one is best. But I have made a little progress on the blocks that I am sure of.

Started quilting the white flower blocks, and cutting and crossing the others. Once I have all but that bothersome purple done, I'll lay them all out with each option and decide which is best.

  • Finish the green/music ragtime quilt. Done, and listed at Hushabye Street:

    Musical Frogs Ragtime Baby Quilt

  • Take down remaining sheetrock around bathtub. Done.

Who knows how long it'll stay like this? It's my husband's turn to do his thing here, and he tends to work on his own schedule. The tub needs to be leveled and a leaky pipe fixed. Then it'll be sheetrocking and taping again for me... yay. With that to look forward to, I'm not likely to be rushing him along.

And that really was the extent of my week. The kids had the week off of school, which always blows my routine somewhat. I did have a very nice ending for my week, though. My first sale through Etsy! Sent this little guy winging off to a new home today:

In just over a month of business, I've had two sales resulting from my Etsy shop. I don't think that's bad for just starting out, so I'm encouraged to keep on keeping on...

Scrap Heaven

Well, I did it. Over the weekend I got this whole bin of flannel scraps sorted and cut up...

...into many, many pre-cut strips, squares and leftover bits.

If I would only learn to do this after each project, I could save myself the killer backache of doing it all at once! At any rate, my to-dos for the week will most definitely involve some flannel. Time to enjoy the result of all that hard work.

Here are my goals for the week:

  • Complete one scrappy flannel project
  • Depending on how quickly my order from Fabric.com arrives, begin work on two potential customer quilt orders.
  • Clean the upstairs bathroom, and take down sheetrock on bathtub end wall to expose plumbing (from there, we'll decide if we really want to tackle the rest of that project!)

Sounds like plenty of work to me... here goes!

... and oh yeah, it's Friday.

Late with my Monday to-dos and late with my Friday finishes. But I did make some progress this week:
  • The kitchen counter...

    ... is cleared!

(Granted, I just did it today, and only because I said I would here. LoL Proof that the Monday to-do list really works!)

  • The flannel heap...

    ... is sorted!

Less than one yard, one yard, and more than one yard bins. And scraps...

Currently in the process of cutting into strips and squares...

And I did squeeze in one flannel project for the shop...

Another little ragtime baby quilt, mostly from the "less than one yard" bin - yay! (More pictures at Hushabye Street.)

  • As for the bathroom project, well, I said I was just going to figure out the first steps. And that's all I did.

The first step is to tear the sheetrock down off that wall and all around the tub, so we can fix the plumbing problem and level the tub (something we failed to do when we installed it, and it has caused some other water issues). Any wonder why I'm procrastinating?

I think it may be a February/March project... maybe even February/March/April...

And that is all. I'm off to cut up some more flannel scraps now, and vow to have them done by Monday!
