Needles and Pens

Well, surprise surprise. My 400th blog post! And wouldn't you know it's my first one in three months? (Imagine how many there would be if I weren't the world's worst blogger. LoL) So I just went through my last three months worth of photos and was amazed at how much has happened around here in that time. It's really no wonder I don't find time to blog... Now, to play catch up again. Or at least get started playing catch up. ;o) So... back in January, I wrote about our youngest son moving into a new room, which we painted bright yellow . Well, in April our 18-year-old daughter decided it was time to leave the nest, freeing up the teenager-coveted big room in the basement. Of course, little brother then wanted to move -- again -- and wished for the new room to be bright yellow -- again. Deja vu... I know, it sounds crazy. But I've been waiting a long time for the mom-coveted main floor bedroom to use as a guest room. (Yes, I know. I just set up a guest room...

Well I made it through my to-do list -- and then some! Complete one scrappy flannel project Done! And listed in the shop today: Scrappy Floral Ragtime Baby Quilt I also started making some pink and purple string blocks for another project: Begin work on two custom quilt orders. (Still waiting for my fabric order for this one. Should be delivered on Monday!) Tear down sheetrock on bathtub end wall. Made a heckuva mess in the process... But I got it done! AND cleaned up the mess. AND stripped the caulking around the tub/floor, for a head start on next week. Yesterday was my birthday, and I had a fantastic day! My husband and kids were so good to me. I was spoiled with roses (And breakfast. And dinner!) from my husband... ...a beautiful Willow Tree "Love" figurine from my daughter... ...and a new camera from the whole family, which I really, really needed. I didn't lift a finger all day, for meals or housework or anything, and I enjoyed every...

It's been awhile since I've posted an update on my February Better Home project, and with only three days left, I've been taking stock of what's been done and what can still realistically be done in these last few days. I think I was on target awhile back when I said I'd be happy just to have the area de-junked and the floor washed. Well, I have three days left to get that floor washed... LoL That's kind of how things have been going here this month. Aside from some major de-cluttering, we did get a start on a long-put-off project in this room -- the ceiling. Though the two bedroom ceilings were finished when we bought our house in 1998, the rest of the basement still has the heat duct-plumbing-wiring-and-beams decor overhead. In the area I've been working on, this is the basic ceiling view. Years ago, we purchased a suspended ceiling "starter kit" for the room, but never got around to so much as opening the box.
