April Home Project(s) Update

What a crazy busy month it's been so far! It's hard to believe we're only two weeks into April. The home improvement projects have multiplied, but with good reason. Our son, Nathan, became a first time homeowner on April 6th -- very exciting!

The house is a fixer-upper, built in 1966, but structurally sound, so it mostly just needs cosmetic improvements -- and lots of cleaning...

The whole family has been helping him get moved in.

The homemade kitchen cabinets were apparently built out of whatever scraps of rough lumber were laying around at the time, and most of them were never even painted. No way dishes or food were going in there...

But paint can do amazing things...

And shelf liner doesn't hurt...

One section done, but it's still a work in progress. I hope to get over there today and help him get the rest of the insides done so we can get the doors painted and everything back together. Eventually he wants to buy new cabinets, but for now, just painting makes a huge improvement.

Meanwhile... little sister is moving into his old room at our house. She said she'd do all the work to repaint, and she did. Here's her "before"...

And after, in her new "beachy" colors...

Incidentally, she mixed the two leftover half-gallons from my bathroom painting debacle and used that for her aqua -- perfect. (And no more guilt for me now, over buying that second gallon of paint! LoL)

With all of this going on, it seems like my own project (the master bedroom) has been moving in slow motion. But while Emily was painting her new room this weekend, I finally made some progress on my own.

The window sills were not looking good, so along with washing the windows inside and out, I used some of that mildew resistant primer on the sills. Before... ick.

And after.

Clean windows!

And yesterday I said goodbye to my wallpaper... there's no turning back now!

My room is a disaster area.

And I have this far yet to go with the stripping...

Good thing I still have a couple more weeks!

Pretty amazing, isn't it? Especially when you consider how much time is wasted on computer games, too! LoL

Wow, first the bathroom... now bedrooms and a whole new house too!
I am going to love visiting to see what you have done next.
Those kitchen cupboards look great with a paint job. Well done.
