Seasons of the Heart December BOM

One more little bit of Christmas inspiration came over me this week, and I actually finished my last 2009 Seasons of the Heart Block-of-the-Month block, the December Gift:

I'm pretty sure this is a first for me, to finish a block-of-the-month program, relatively on time. Many thanks to Sandi, from A Legacy of Stitches, for so generously sharing her designs for 2009. Can't wait to see them in a finished quilt! Sandi has already begun two new Block-of-the-Month programs for 2010, which you can access by becoming a member of her Yahoo group. I doubt I'll keep up as well this year, but I'm definitely saving the patterns, even if just for "someday."

Now, to decide on a layout for my "Seasons" quilt...

When I wrote this post earlier today, I completely forgot that it's Friday, and I should have linked up to Amylouwho's Sew & Tell Friday. (Where did the week go?) While I'm at it, I might as well share another little project I finished today.

I've been getting a lot of use out of my heating pad lately, with all my aches and pains, but the old cover is getting really worn and scratchy and uncomfortable to use, so I had on my to-do list to make a new flannel cover. A nice, quick project which at least got me into the sewing room for a bit today:

And to make it a little more fun (and use up some stash), I added a little ribbon trim and a buttony-looking snap that I found among the bins...

That's all for me this week. Not much, but at least I'm getting back in the swing. Slowly but surely... ;o)

your heating pad cover is great! I think I need something similar for my hot water bottle!

You would never know that you didn't purchase the flannel and ribbon together, they go GREAT! Very cute, and a fantastic idea. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for showing us your block. I ma looking forward to seeing the whole quilt. I participated in my first BOM this last year and managed to keep up. Lucky it was only piecing. I have the top all together and it has been quilted. It is just waiting for some binding. I am hoping this will be done very soon before I get distracted with new projects.

There are so many beautiful BOMs out there. I never am able to keep up with making the blocks, although my files have plenty I can make! Great heating pad cover. I remember my mother making covers for hers.
