Memes, Anyone?

I was tagged awhile back by my friend, Carol, at Giraffe Dreams, to do the Seven Random Facts meme.

THE RULES:

1). Once you are tagged, link back to the person who tagged you.

3). Post 7 weird or random facts about yourself on your blog.

Okay, here goes... seven (extremely) random facts about me:

1. I’ve read the Bible from cover to cover – once. I’d like to make it a regular habit!

2. Growing up, I wanted to be a veterinarian. When I was about fourteen, my sister-in-law was a pre-med student and let me help with her lab work. I did my first (and last) surgery, performing an ovaryectomy on a white lab mouse. I’m happy to say, the patient survived. Actual surgery didn’t change my mind, but four years later, the pre-vet college workload sure did. I gave up my veterinary dreams.

3. Everyday conversation triggers music in my head. For example, a simple “hello” brings on the Beatles, “Hello, hello… I don’t know why you say goodbye, I say hello…” Wierd, I know.

4. I’ve lived in five states and sixteen different homes in my 42 years, but have lived in my current home for the past ten. Finally, I think we've put down roots!

5. When my husband and I got married, I was twenty years old, he was nineteen. We couldn’t afford a honeymoon, but did reserve a night in the honeymoon suite at a fancy, private club. When we went to check in, we were told we weren’t old enough to stay there. We spent the night at the Holiday Inn.

6. I talk to myself. Not out loud, but my lips move. Of course, I only do this when I’m alone (so why not just talk out loud???) How's that for random? And odd?

7. Though I currently spend countless hours sewing and quilting, I didn’t learn to sew until my first child was born and I wanted to make clothes for him. Who knew it would develop into a lifelong addiction?

The second meme is the 123 Meme, a blanket tag from fellow Momwriter, Karen, at Bigger Learning. You're supposed to reach for the nearest book, turn to page 123, and type sentences 5, 6, and 7 into your blog. My quote is from Restoring the Christian Family, by John and Paula Sanford, and happens to be a portion of Proverbs 31 from the chapter titled "Mothers, Sons and Daughters:"

"She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life."

The ultimate job description of a good wife, which always makes me feel a bit unworthy, yet gives me an excellent goal for which to strive. ;o)
