Yesterday I posted pictures of the finishing touches on my new office/sewing room. Now I would love to just dig in to organizing my sewing stuff and getting moved in there, but first I have to get my oldest son moved into his new room. This was previously my "sewing room," and I use that term loosly, as I never actually sewed in there, just piled it full of sewing stuff, which got repeatedly stirred and rarely put back away. Here's how that room looked yesterday...
Ready?...
Fun, huh? Makes you want to just jump right in and sew something... not! And that's just the view from the doorway. It gets worse as you plough your way through to the closet.
Okay, so that was yesterday. Last night, my son, husband and I (mostly I) moved all the stuff out of there. The less-stirred bins and my storage cupboard went upstairs, the rest is piled in a heap in the basement's main room (to tackle another day). There are a couple more pieces of furniture to move out, but there is absolutly no available space for it anywhere until we get some of his stuff shuffled in. Now the room looks like this:
Much better! But it still needs some work, and that's my Tackle it Tuesday project. I was mistaken yesterday, when I said that my upstairs project cost about $35. Actually, that included the cost of two gallons of paint, and I only used one gallon upstairs. Since I have a whole gallon of new paint, I thought I might as well give this room a paint job, too. Although he insisted he didn't mind, it's been years since it was painted, and it looks a little girly for a 20-year-old guy. I just hope the "Dusted Bronze" helps tone down the pink carpet. I have carpet issues... lol
So, I'm off to paint -- just as soon as I've put in my hour on the treadmill. I'll post an update later and let you know how it went. I'm SO anxious for this whole project to be done!
Update: 5:30 p.m.
I'm thrilled to say that this room is finished! It wasn't until I started in painting that I realize how badly it needed doing -- badly. Even if it's not the exact color I would have chosen, it's fresh and clean, and ready for moving in. Ta daaa! Now we just have to move out the desk and cupboard, and figure out how to fit all my son's stuff into this tiny bedroom...
A big thanks to Five Minutes for Mom, for the wonderful motivation of Tackle it Tuesday! This is really helping me get through a big, tedious project. ;o)

HEHEHE good job, where is all the stuff?
Very good! I did a SEMI- tackle, but it looks better then it did!
LOL You don't wanna know. That's a WHOLE other tackle! Some of it went up to the new room, but most is in a hideous pile in the main basement room -- to be sorted later! What a mess!
I'll have to stop by and see what you're up to. Then I just HAVE to get started. ugh. ;o)
WOW!!
I'd hate to have to go through all that. Actually, I have a room that looks like the before picture. I haven't worked up the nerve to tackle it yet. LOL
Impressive!!! I was admiring your quilt work. Do you quilt by hand or by machine?
Wow! You accomplished a lot. It's gotta be a great feeling - thank you for stopping by.
I need to do some a room arrangement but I'm not sure what I need to do.
Wow! You sure got a lot done! Thanks for visiting my blog and yes I did make some progress but this tackle will end up taking me all the way to V-Day.
Great job. Feels good I know. Nice tackle.
That is a really great job! I am so impressed you did all of that in one day. You deserve a break today for sure! Love the ice cream cone quilt by the way!
Yikes! Okay, you win! We did just move into our house two months ago though so there is really no reason why my sewing room is so disorganized 'already'! Your room looks oh, so much better! =) I like the paint!
Oh my gosh, WOW! You surely win th emost productive for the day! That is a lot of work you got done and it looks GREAT! Awesome job! Totally inspiring!
You got a HUGE job done! Impressive!
(And I am whining about working out. Sigh...)
Your room looks fantastic!
Blessings.
Thank you all for visiting and cheering me on with this never-ending project! lol What I didn't show you is the huge pile of stuff in the other room now, which will take me forever to go through. But progress is progress. At least my son's stuff has a home now -- if I can keep him home long enough to put it all away!
Michelle: LOL Love your reaction to my "before" pic! Glad to know I'm not the only one.
Gray Matters: Thanks! It does feel pretty great. I feel like I'm on the downhill slope now. ;o)
Speaking from the Heart: Thank you! I do all machine quilting on my $300 Singer that I bought at Walmart. I did pay an extra $30 to buy a walking foot, and that made a huge difference! I don't do anything too fancy, though. Just basic stitch-in-the-ditch, crosshatching, things like that.
Peppylady: I know! It's so hard to figure out where to shuffle things, and it never fails to be a big, big mess before you're through. But sometimes you just have to change things around to meet your changing needs. Good luck!
Jennifer: I hear ya! This project is far from over, too. Overall, I think all the painting and stuff is the easy part. I still have all the sorting and decluttering to do. ugh!
Heart of Wisdom: Thanks! It does feel great. ;o)
KJ: My body totally agrees with you! I've definitely been overdoing it, trying to just get it all done. But today I plan to take it easy, maybe sort through a box or two. But that's it! lol
My Life With Boys: LOL I knew that would make you feel better. Just think of it as a warning of what will happen if you don't stay on top of it. ;o)
Katie: Thanks so much! Tackle it Tuesday really helps to motivate me. I feel like I can't quit, cause I have to post an "after" pic. lol
Beckaboo: Hey, a working out routine is a huge tackle! And does a lot more good in the long run. ;o)
WOW, what a huge difference! Way to go! I have pink carpet issues too...our living room has "dusty rose" pink carpet from the previous owners and I HATE IT! I hate the color pink anyway, and to have it as our living room carpet is a nightmare for me. lol We can't justify the expense to change it yet though :(
Thanks for stopping by and for the compliments on my boys' closet.
I think both rooms look FANTASTIC! :-)
Thanks much for taking the time to leave comments on both my blogs. It made my day!
Thanks for stopping in! I so appreciate all the encouragement. ;o)
Courtney: Thank you! Wow -- pink carpet in the living room?? I wonder what they were thinking... I can handle a little pink, but that would definitely be overkill for me, too. lol There's very little carpet in my house that I DO like, but I hear ya about the expense. Someday...
Melonie: Thanks! And so happy I could make your day! All these great comments have definitely made mine, too. ;o)
Wow! What a great tackle...and a big one, too. I need to do our guest room next week that is packed full of all the stuff I weeded out from other rooms this winter! You have inspired me!
Thanks, hopefulmom! I'm glad you were inspired. That's how these Tuesday Tackles affect me, too. ;o) Hope you can share some pictures along the way!
Great job!

Thanks, Lisa! I'll definitely check it out. I can use all the ideas I can get. ;o)
Wow, you've made some great progress since I was here last! Good job on *your* space and on your son's too...
Thanks, Shauntelle! I've kind of lost my momentum on the project this week. Hope to get back to it next week and finally get everything settled into MY OWN ROOM!! Yeah! All the encouragement here really makes me want to get it done. ;o)
